Hi All

I just found this forum and wanted to introduce myself. I have had tinnitus for 3-4 years just in my left ear. I have had medical tests and MRI scan and they can find no medical reason for this which I was told they thought there might be having it only in one ear.

I also have no hearing loss so getting any help once the tests were carried out and negative was a struggle. I was finding it hard to concentrate at work and home, and also struggled in social settings.

After a year of going back to my GP i managed to get them to refer me to audiology and I now have a masker which although it is early days has transformed my life. I find it much easier to cope when using this and I can wear it all day, and when it comes to night i find it much quieter as my attention hasn't been drawn to it all day.

There are some useful posts on here I wish I had found it a while ago all the best to everyone

Hi Ben,

I have had T for 4 years and was provided with a masker & hearing aid for very slight hearing loss. I totally agree with you about the masker. I don’t use mine now but my hearing aid is essential in calming down my tinnitus - so much so that I don’t hear it most of the time.

You will find friendly folk with good advice on this forum.

Can you please tell me what a masker is?

Thanks,
