My tinnitus has been my constant nagging companion for twenty five years, the best thing I found early on for helping sleep is to have any sort of background noise playing at night as you can concentrate on the sounds and not your tinnitus. If it is really getting you seriously down, I would advise you to speak to your GP if possible knowing how hard it can br to get an appointment, as antidepressants have helped me at the moment and in the past. The best way to think of your tinnitus is as a constant nagging companion, who can’t be allowed to win. I have been in some very dark places but I have always pulled myself out of them. Tinnitus is a very psychological condition learning to live with it has taken me a long time and medication but it can get to a state of acceptance, never give up on life or it will give up on you.

Sorry to about the difficulty your having.. I have had tinnitus for more than 20 years. It comes in various times and causes. But in my experience if you concentrate on the tinnitus it seems to get louder. As it has now whilst typing this. I find listening to the TV with head phones helps. But that isn't always practical. When going to sleep.. that's a hard one. I seem to cope best when don't listen to an audiobook or just read and I find concentrating on anything other than the tinnitus real helps. Then I naturally fall asleep. The mechanisms I use work for me. Hopefully you will find your ways to cope.. good luck in your quest.
