Sounds more like hyperacusis which I have along with pulsatile t. You really will be much better in quiet places. I went for lunch with my husband in Winchester last Thursday and the restaurant was quiet when we arrived. By the end of the meal I was in agony and that took me out for two days. We avoid all noisy places. Coffee shops are the worst. I don’t go anywhere noisy now it’s not worth it. Good news is that I went to royal Albert Hall on Saturday and took some wax ear plugs for the loud bits and I was absolutely fine after. Brilliant! You could try those for the odd unavoidable noisy occasion.
That sounds like hyperacusis. Dose it actually physically hurt from the clinking of tableware?
My children's voices send me out of the room after a while. I had to leave a live jazz performance last week, just do the the opening note.
I have adjusted and can ignore incredibly loud T and other Meneire's symptoms in both ears. I think of it as though I need to get the most out of what I can still enjoy in life. It's as if, now it doesn't matter how loud it is, I'm just a walking mirical.
I think, if I ever had silence again, I'd not know how to handle that. It's been so long, I can't remember what it was like.
Hello and welcome to the British Tinnitus Association forum. I hope that you find this a helpful and supportive place to help you manage your tinnitus.
It sounds like you are becoming sensitive to everyday sounds - this is known as hyperacusis and you like to check out tinnitus.org.uk/hyperacusis
Ear plugs can help in loud situations such as concerts, and as a musician, are a good idea anyway, to protect your hearing.
Warmest wishes
