This a post on behalf of Kathryn Fackrell, from NIHR Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre
Are you interested in joining a workshop to set priorities for Hyperacusis research? Tell us what you think and change lives for people with Hyperacusis
Here at the NIHR Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre, we have been working with a Steering Group comprising people who have lived experience of hyperacusis and our partner organisations to identify the Top 10 research priorities about Hyperacusis.
In our first survey, 312 people (adults/children experiencing hyperacusis, parents, family and friends, teachers, and health professionals who work with and support those who experience hyperacusis) submitted questions they had about hyperacusis. People have now voted for their Top 10 questions they think research should target in a second survey. Our next step is to hold a consensus workshop to identify the final Top 10 questions from a list of 25/30 questions identified as important in the second survey.
We need you to join us at the consensus workshop!
The workshop will include 30 people who all have experience and knowledge about hyperacusis. This includes people with hyperacusis, their relatives and carers, and healthcare professionals from a variety of disciplines. We need people who are prepared to share their experiences and opinions and listen to other people’s experience and opinions in a series of discussions in order to identify the final top 10 questions for research Hyperacusis.
What will the workshop involve?
The day workshop will involve small group discussions of no more than 10 people and whole group discussions to talk about the questions and identify the Top 10 research questions.
