Left or Right Ear?.

I read post that say T is in my right, left, both ears, T is recently new to me and although my left ear took the brunt of explosion noise I can not say it is in my left ear, my noise is in the centre of my head, is this normal? or am incapable of placing the T noise to a specific ear?.

Apparently it’s not our ears but our brain, so that sounds feasible

Dear Jojo313,

Daft post really as I've just re read the article sent to me by Michael Leigh, I read it when he sent it but my mind was a bit scattered and did not take it in, it is brilliant and there on the very first page is "Tinnitus is a sound that is experienced either in the head or the ears but often in both".

Thanks

Dave-.

Hello and welcome to the British Tinnitus Association forum. Do feel free to ask any questions, I hope that you find this a helpful and supportive place to help you manage your tinnitus.

It's perfectly normal not to be able to pinpoint where tinnitus is coming from. Or that it changes where you think it's coming from. The noise is actually created in the brain, but the brain gets a bit confused. It "knows" sound comes from our ears, so when it's processing the tinnitus sound, attaches information to say "left" or "right" or sometimes doesn't bother!

Thanks NicBTA,

After posting my question I went back to read an excellent article on tinnitus sent to me by Michael Leigh, written by Michael it answered my post along with so many other questions that ENT and Hearing therapy kept to them selves also his other article on Hyperacusis confirmed to me that I also have that awful tinnitus add on.

Kind regards,

Dave-
