Is anyone else keeping a diary ?

Interested if anyone is logging stuff (food, drink, sleep, Tinnitus volume etc).

I started logging some things a few weeks ago trying to spot any significant triggers.

So far all I know is that mostly it switches on or off when I am asleep.

I thought about keeping a log on it, but then you're actively monitoring your T, which effectively tells your brain that you want to be kept up to date with the racket at all times. It can delay or prevent the chances of habituation, so I'd advise against it.

Hi Ruud1boy exactly my hearing therapist told me not to keep a diary as you say you on focused on your tinnitus also I know regular tea and coffee can irritate your tinnitus and bitter lemon which contains quinine and soda water can also be bad for your T I only dink decaffeinated tea & coffee.

I have been close to decaf only for many many years for reasons of sleep. So far I can't see any food or drink (incl alcohol) link other than as mentioned elsewhere I can knock it out by drinking too much and get a quiet day. Not something I do often or encourage.

though the reason I started logging things was because I started to get quiet & silent days so I became interested in why this is. I'm more focussed on the quiet and extending that than in the Tinnitus.

I started to keep a detailed log for a wee while but I gave up as I would forget some days and it just ended up a mish mash of disjointed scribbled notes which made very little sense. Lifes too short anyway to record what you've eaten, what you've done or not done and all the other stuff you need to record, to see any type of pattern emerging. Now I just jot down the days it's either good or bad. That way I can at least measure changes so I know if it's getting any better or any worse!

I kept a diary for a while and it proved to me that whether I have a good day or bad day is totally random (other than as already noted a good amount of alcohol does quieten down the noise but is obviously not recommended and isn’t a solution). I suppose the diary helped in that I don’t need to worry about cutting things out my diet or getting more sleep etc as none of it made any difference.
