has anyone take craniosacral therapy for their tinnitus ?
Tinnitus: has anyone take craniosacral therapy... - Tinnitus UK
Tinnitus
I tried it - and although the tinnitus didn't lessen I was far more relaxed afterwards ...and that is always a good thing. So it didn't make any difference for me, but I have heard that some types of T do benefit.
I am currently having this and will be on my third session next week. It is not changing the height of the tinnitus yet. I do agree though that it is very very relaxing. I will continue for a few more sessions. I do enjoy a relaxing head and neck massage which is also very relaxing and cheaper!! Have had tinnitus for over 6 months and fortunately get a couple on days off every now and then.
I do practice relaxation and am looking for a local yoga class for the over 60's.
I'm currently working on a comprehensive resource giving the evidence for all sorts of tinnitus treatments, and the BTA position on them. This is the statement I've drafted
There is no plausible mechanism of action for Craniosacral Therapy (CST). Whilst no studies have been conducted on CST and tinnitus, studies conducted into CST and other conditions do not show that it is effective.
Hope that helps!
Nic
I look forward to that being published Nic. The more information the BTA can publish, the better. It is the only advice worth following! Angela xx
Lets hope its better than the advice available from the BTA helpline. On the 2 occasions I've called them asking various questions, the general thrust of the response has been 'ooh, I don't know, no-one's ever asked that before. Try calling Action on Hearing Loss instead'.
I'm sure the BTA Support line could find the information or our Lovely Nic Wray for you.
