If I have a good long sleep, then when I wake up at any time often my T is low hardly noticeable. If I get up then it stays quiet all day long. If I try to get even an extra 5 minutes sleep, it starts ringing again.Same thing happens if I take a five minute nap in the afternoon.Very peculiar situation.
So this is my solution. As soon as I wake up,I do not spent anymore time in bed.I get up, and then I have a great day. I succeeded in doing it for 3 days continuously. On the fourth day I woke up 2 am and I could not possibly get up so early.
So the answer might be to find a way to sleep continually for 6 hours or more. And that should keep the T away.
Possible explanation. If you wake up after less than 2 hours sleep which is non REM sleep your T starts up. If you wake up after more than 2 hours sleep which is REM sleep your T should not start up.
I hope this will help some people.
I repeated this several times ,with similar results

Hi Tony ,
Maybe you would find Melatonin helpful to sleep a bit longer as and when you need it....
A good nights sleep does help us feel better and cope better 😊.....
Hi Tonyccc. I agree with you. I find that lie ins are a big no no these days as it just gives my T a chance to ramp up, but if I get up as soon as I wake up and just start getting on with my daily activities then I'm much more likely to keep it at bay all day.
Hi Tony, yes. On waking there is a few blissful seconds before the T kicks in and I have to get up to start to beat the beast! No more 10 minute snoozes. After a cup of tea, then the daily ablutions and in go my hearing and and masker which usually calms it all down. Aids out at bedtime and if I don't get to sleep within half an hour, the tinnitus slowly increases in volume. Sleep is so very important to deal with it all. Angela xx
I used to take a nap with my ears quiet, and when I woke up my T was very high.So I stopped having naps for months even when my T was high thinking if I did My T would go even higher. To day in the afternoon I took a chance with high T I took a nap, 10 minutes later I was in complete silence.I will experiment again to morrow and hope it will work again.I am still fine now.
Hi Tony, this is very interesting as on several occasions I've nodded off in front of the telly quiet, then woken up with my ears and brain static through the sodding roof. Happened on Xmas night, remember it vividly as I'd had a couple of drinks and nodded off briefly at about 10pm, only to wake with it so loud I had to go to bed in the hope some sleep would re-set it...sadly was still very loud all Boxing Day which ruined it for me 😤
Sleep is the key totally agree found Melatonin has helped like to take it a few hours before i go to bed seems to work better that way then just waiting to fall asleep - i dont know what the regulations are however but it does work for me 4 - 5 hours sleep, i couldnt get any from the GP and i know you dont get them over the counter but i get them on AMAZON, not recommending this but just offering an opinion as it works for me, main reason being i have never found any side effects from Melatonin they say long term is no advisable (years of using it) but it helps alot and the sleep then really helps as you know to handle the day - no sleep means grumpy right .. so just offering my 2 cents worth for you .. what i can say is the Gummy brand has helped me so much to re coup that small afternoon nap for an hour or so too - which the ear problem took from me and so the odd day here and there the afternoon nap helps big time ..
