I agree with Shaws, what is your |Gp thinking of by not testing for thyroid issues, if you dont get the correct medication and it is, it could turn serious, I left it and was a heart attack waiting to happen i was so thyrotoxic!!! please please go asap.. your hospital will test you i would think
thought i would put you mind at rest and let you know that I saw my doc, (See reply to Shaws) and now after a few days of being the roughest Ive ever felt, Ive come through it.
I am seeing my doc again on Monday and will update then.
Your story seems intriguing, perhaps you could do a blog about it.
Hi Shaws rang doc got an emergency slot, she couldnt see swelling, my neck has definitely got thicker, As i had a temperature she suggested it was this virus going around. I was falling asleep on her table I am to get bloods rechecked in a week. I am sooo waek and tireed, just to let you know xx
They couldn't see my swollen thyroid gland, even despite a barium swallow when they told me I had a post cricoid web which would have to be removed. I had no such thing and it was a first aider who alerted me to thyroid problems (after 3 years of here, there and everywhere).
They do not know clinical symptoms and just go on the TSH which is ridiculous. I am sorry you are feeling so bad. Post your blood test results on another question with the ranges (as labs differ) and someone will comment upon them.
Ask for a B12 and Vit D as well as they are usually deficient and can cause problems, also ferritin, folate and iron. May as well ask for the lot.
Hi Make sure you have tests for TH, T4 and free T3, then the results may well prove you need treatment. Most GP`s only do TSH now for costs. You can pay for them through TUK, if that is the case.thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/teThis is a common problem, I was 20 years without treatment,, no alternative courses in those days.
