what should we be aware of concerning dental injections and cortisol and why please ?
Hi flatfeet
If you have adrenal problems? then it is worth asking for a non-adrenalin injection. This can only be done for lower jaw teeth though. I don't know exactly what the chemistry is, but if your adrenals are prone to stressors, and/or have anxiety, then pumping adrenalin into the system via an injection does not feel great and has a knock on effect on how you feel immediately and later.
I had 12 malgams removed. The holistic dentist used non-adrenalin on lower jaw, he was amazing at injections. These need to be injected slowly. It worked a treat for me. Upper jaw they have to use Adrenalin based injections. I muscle tested what brand was the least affecting to me and dentist followed that suggestion.

Hi JTL
I dont know if i have adrenal problems but I know I'm very anxious at the moment, had a panic attack the other day...scary. Do you think its worth me asking for non-adrenalin ?
Thanks
If it's for bottom jaw then nothing to lose by having non adrenalin. If you are nervous at the dentist? you could also try using some rescue remedy to calm the anxiety just before going in, or take some passiflora 30 mins before.....
Maybe to it would be worth considering have a cortisol/DHEA test done if you are anxious at mo? to ruke out cortisol issues.

Thanks for this, not heard of passiflora before, will google. and lookk into doing the test
Thanks, xx
JLTsirius, I wonder why you say the adrenaline free injections can only be used for lower jaw teeth? Both dentists I've been treated by over the last few years have used them on me regardless of upper or lower. My current dentist tells me they aren't as always as effective at pain killing, and they don't last as long, so dentist has to work quickly!
Apologies to the original poster, but I was wondering about the benefits to you of the amalgam removals as I have also been recommended this?
It is hard to say how much it has benefitted as I have been getting slowly better from all the self treating I have been doing. All I know is that my amalgams were leaking into my body, some more than others....this cannot be good.
So at least now I have stopped the leakage, it may be a long time until the mercury chelates out of my body, but better out of my mouth than in!!
A good dentist will be wary of injections with adrenaline in for people with hypERthyroidism. But it can also affect some people with hypOthyroidism too.
There's a little info here, although it doesn't say much really
Wow, I did wonder if these injections have any effect on me. I've been undergoing loads of dental work over the last 3 years, since I was diagnosed with severe and aggressive Periodontal disease.
I've lost a lot of bone and nearly lost my front teeth, so have been visiting Guys hospital and having loads of injections. Even with that it's very painful deep cleaning treatment and I usually end up shaking within the first half hour of treatment(takes 1 -2 hours), as well as crying. I always thought it was the pain or the anticipation of the pain. My teeth are so sensitive I need lots of pain killer.
I've also been having fillings changed at my dentist but this doesn't require so much of the injections.
I feel awful afterwards, sometimes for days but thought it was the stress of it all, now I'm wondering......
It seems my condition has improved but I still need gum surgery yet and have to spend ages on my dental hygiene. Looking at old x-rays, my dental issues started about the same time I started to get symptoms of hypo, so I believe it's all linked. The dentists can't give me an explanation of why this has happened as my dental hygiene has always been very good.
Actually suing the medical profession on this one(two dentists), failed to diagnose or treat and have admitted liability!
I can assure you that Dental Injections without adrenalin can be given anywhere in your mouth although adrenalin is more likely to affect you when administered to some areas of the lower jaw because of where the the blood supply is. (I trained as a Dental Nurse and I never have adrenalin injections). I never have the adrenalin injections for the very reasons mentioned, it can make you feel very anxious and can make your heart beat fast so for someone who is already anxious it can just make you feel worse. Dentists don't mind if you request injections without adrenalin, it just makes things a tiny bit more difficult because it wears off more quickly and if you are having extractions it will bleed more and for longer as adrenalin stops or slows bleeding.
