Should this be something i should worry about ? My gp is arranging a recheck and a lead of other blood tests but refuses to do vit D or B 12 ?, I've been hypo for about 4 years ish, i was diagnosed quiet late and became quite poorly onced given correct dose got better ish ! But I've become far worse lately and have a new symptom or 2 I've got a shake in both my hands arms and every so often Getty very shaky like I'm having adiabetic episode but I'm not ? Also excessive sweating with very little exertion ? And sleepy like I've never known before has any one any ideas i would be so grateful
Thank you so much xxx

Hi Diabetes should be checked annually any way with thyroid disease, I think if you request they would do that. if you were seeing an endo they would automatically do these tests first visist and importantly iron/ Ferritin. GP may also do this too. The other 2 testsB12 with Foliate and vit D, can you pay for. If D is low then you need a calcium test for corrected calcium before taking any vit D, this is most important.Any tests GP will not do ,if you can pay for you can do it on line without involving any doc.thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/te I use Blue Horizon as are a very well known Lab,used by all the private hospitals, TDL. There are all the other sites on their main site. To get the TUK discount quote TUK10 ( £10). B12 is always done with Foliates. The D through Blue Horizon is the best test, but is £55. The same test as NHS is City Hospital through the site. Blue Horizon check all results with their Harley St. Doc, any thing glaring they let you know.
I had exactly the same symptoms, and thougt it might by a thyroid conversion problem. It turned out to be Addison's disease, as my autoimmune system had attacked not just my thyroid (been hypothyroid for years), but my adrenal gland. Seems to be going for the pituitary too. Good way to check is to take your blood pressure. Take it sitting first, after waiting a while to get comfortable. Then stand up and take it again. If it goes much lower when you stand up, it might be your adrenal gland.
Thank you Jackie, Jeannie and Heloise so much for your input. im currently on 125 mcg of levo but don't feel it works for me ?I did try to explain to my doctor that the tests they were doing and coming back with in normal limits, but weren't right for me ? I was told to just see how it goes ??? they only do these two which were taken two weeks ago. tsh 2.5 range 0.4 - 4.5 fsh 8.6 range 1.7 - 135 as I don't trust doctors anymore could anyone let me know if they are good ?
poppins, After being on thyroxine for four years your tsh should be suppressed and the test should be one or less. The older I get the less I can tolerate a tsh of much more than 1. Can you put it to your GP that since you are not over the range, that you would like to increase to another 25 mcg. Many people take over 150 of levo. Why should he argue with that?
In the meantime I would start sublingual B12 and even vitamin D3 since we know that hypothyroids are very often deficient in both.
thank you Heloise, I will defo put this to my GP, my tsh was last check 1.0 so has defo gone up, so this is not the right way for that result to go ? I didn't realise thank you so much for replying very much appreciated as I have very little understanding so sorry for my ignorance I must become more knowledgeable with regard's to my thyroid etc.
