Do Private Drs. charge for writing a Prescription or is it part of the appointment cost?

In my experience we have not been charged extra for a prescription, but I can't speak for all doctors.

To be sure, you would need to ask the specific private doctor.

One may quote fifty pounds plus twenty pounds for each prescription where another quotes a hundred pounds with any needed prescriptions included (the paper - not the dispensing).

I have paid for consultations but never for repeat prescriptions.

Hi A private doctor usually writes a privates script but a private consultant always writes to the NHS GP and asks fro the script. The exceptions are if it is not something the GP will prescribe eg in my case armour. or if you need it urgently ,say a Fri night and ask for a private script.,to tide you over. If that is the case ,ask for the rough price from the consultant and then shop around, supermarkets are cheaper, some charge you just to make up the script especially chemists. If it is urgent they can write a note or you to give to GP, ie without waiting for their standard letter to arrive at the GP`s, so much quicker.
