BOWEN THERAPY - worth a try.....

I was fortunate to attend a meeting recently about Bowen Therapy - hosted by a Greek. At the end of the meeting we were all offered a free treatment by the Therapist. A French lady who has been living here in Crete for over 30 years.

And so I went along and the treatment was for one and a half hours in her Yurt in the olive grove ! It was wonderful and I felt so relaxed afterwards. Yesterday was my second treatment and she worked on my legs.....have very tight calf muscles and hamstrings due to spinal surgery/nerve damage. My left leg immediately responded as the blocked energy hit the sole of my foot - it was like an electric shock. I was also able to lie with my legs down flat whilst lying on my back for much longer than normal. I practice yoga 4 times a week - taking small classes - so am looking forward to not having to work through the ouch bits when practising various asanas !!

It is totally non-invasive and reminds the brain of how the muscles felt prior to the pain/injury. We are so fortunate here that the treatment costs only 20 euro. I remember having just one treatment in the UK some ten years ago that was much more expensive.

Yet another example of allowing the body to heal itself. I do hope some of you can avail yourselves of this treament. There will be plenty of information out there on the net....it started in Australia by a non-medical man ! Will be going again next week !

I have FM/Hashi's/Crohns in varying degrees and at different times.

I have to say I found Bowen to be the most effective way yet of separating me from my money!

The therapist I saw promised me all sorts of things, but £150 later there was no change.

Oh Dear poor you ! I would always be wary of a therapist who promised all sorts of things. I guess like all the people we consult there are variables. I am fortuante. My improvement continues. Also depends on the problem - do you have Fibro too ?

Hi,

I tried Bowen a couple of years ago & ended up in more pain than I started with so wouldn't be rushing back :-(

Sorry to hear that......maybe I have just been lucky. Just love the concept of the body healing itself with the right messages. What sort of pain did you start with - maybe that is relative too ? ......

I have learnt Body Realignment. This is a protocol which permits the body to realign itself. I have found it to be awesome and have not done a treatment without it having some benefit. However, one never claims that it will work. Thus far I have not charged for treatments as I have still been training. My tutor charges £80 per session of approx. 1.5 hrs.

See also positional release, ortho bionics and myofascial release.

The scar release I have been doing has been amazing and I have seen scars shrink before my eyes. More importantly the adhesions have integrated.

I have not had Bowen.

I had Bowens on the NHS believe it or not a few years ago now for my back as I was in agony and physio was no help to me. I found it really good and it helped my whole body. Only problem was when I was 50% better I was told I could no longer have help as too many people on waiting list.
