OK there's a few celebs with thyroid probems, here's a search...
He had schizophrenia - but maybe hypo too? Just a thought as I saw some photos on the telly recently, and he struck me as having a "hypothyroid slump".
Hypothyroidism does lead to other problems...
he used to have eyebrows too....
He had type 2 Diabetes (died 2006) - so wouldn't be surprised if there was a thyroid problem there too..

I'm afraid not everything can be attributed to thyroid conditions... Syd Barrett also had a very well documented, colourful, and often experimental, drug problem in the 60s that was bound to have multiple repercussions, including the compounding of his schizophrenia... see his biography at sydbarrett.com/
The same thought went through my brain as I heard that program. But very difficult to know anything because of his complicated history which might have included, actually did include, a huge range of "substances".
Agreed substance abuse seems to be well documented - but just looking at him, seems a typical "hypothyroid slump" and the hypothyroid sort of weight gain?
