Graves and Bladder problem....

Does anyone who has Graves also have a problem with wetting the bed at night? I have been taking carbimazole and propanalol for just over a year now. I was wetting the bed once or twice a week which started 7-8 months ago. To resolve this I have stopped drinking any fluids after 6pm and that really helps. My GP can't find anything wrong with me. My left side of lower tummy can be tender (not all the time though) and my tummy always swells up after eating. I am 37 and was incontinent after having my baby 4 years ago but that self resolved 3 months after the birth (although never the same, like most women after child birth). So maybe my bladder is just weak and I just have to accept I'm getting older lol

Vicstar, this is not normal for anyone at age 37 :( If you don't already do them, pelvic floor exercises might be helpful. Muscle weakness due to thyroid hormone imbalance could be the root cause, but regardless, I would go back to your GP, describe exactly what happens and insist on further investigation.

Hi It is quite possible that your muscles are lax and that you need a very minor operation, see a gynaecologist who specialises in bladder problems. It is a mistake to stop all fluids PM but it is a good idea to restrict them.Orange and squashes at all times undesirable. There is also medication.,exercises too. ( physio) There are incontinent nurses, local health clinic with referral.Make sure you have had several MSU`s ( mid stream urine ) tests, as an infection can cause all these problems, it does not always show. Needs to be first thing AM, fresh and after fluid restriction. It will not be found easily if chronic, a gynae would check this.

I hope this gives you some ideas, it is miserable, you are young, do not just live with it. ( Untreated or inadequately , thyroid can cause muscle problems )

Thanks for the advice. Maybe I should discuss again with my GP again. Beforehand, I will try introducing fluids again and see what happens.

Many thanks and all the best.
