Might be related to Vit B12 deficiency?

I had it when severely hypothyroid and severely anaemic (iron def).

Thank you for your responses. Could it be caused by too much carbimazole ?

I don't know but can you see whether you have had your B12 tested? and let us know the result?

I recently came across a research paper suggesting a link between Hashimoto's and oral lichen planus. I don't know anything about oral lichen planus but googling it I've found that it affects the tongue, gums and insides of the cheek. The paper says it's been linked to Graves before and they are now suggesting a link with Hashimoto's. I don't know how to attach the paper to this answer but will happily do so if someone can tell me how to do it!

I remember years ago when I was first hyper I was put on 6 carbimazole a day. After a few weeks we went on holiday so I couldnt contact my GP. Almost as soon as we arrived I got this terrible - really really terrible - headache which i say was a headache but it seemed to eminate from my tongue - that probably sound mad but it did.

Anyway, as soon as we returned home I went to my GP and I was very over-medicated and turning hypo. If I hadnt gone on holiday my medication would have been reduced by quite a lot but because I was away I kept taking it and during the holiday got more and more tired so that everything was really difficult. So I suppose, I'm saying that being hypo could well cause you have a tingling tongue, if not the full blown head/tongue ache.
