Thyroid hormone imbalance for an extended period of time will cause the immune system to be compromised. This is the perfect opportunity for infections of any kind to jump in and take hold, including fungal infections.
Other symptoms such as a white coating on your tongue, dandruff, vaginal thrush and frequent attacks of cystitis, could point towards a yeast infection (also known as Candida overgrowth). Yeast infection can also be at the root of apparently persistent thyroid symptoms too, such as fatigue, muscle weakness, bloated tummy after eating and weight gain to name but a few.
