Menopause or thyroid levels wrong (I'm 4 weeks post op)

Hot flushes, no sleep, anxious at night.

I'm 48 so obviously have heard of the menopause (but been in denial it will happen). Since about 2 weeks after my thyroidectomy for cancer, I've been having these awful symptoms. What should I do? Will it get better?

When is it normal to get thyroid tests after an op (not had one offered)?

I'm on 125mg of levothyroxin.

Help gratefully recieved. I'm pretty desperate.

were you on any levothyroxine prior to thyroidectomy

Or have you started on levothyroxine since operation

Which brand of levothyroxine are you taking

Are you taking levothyroxine early morning on empty stomach and then nothing apart from water for at least an hour

No other medication or vitamin supplements within 2 hours

GP should test B12, folate, vitamin D and ferritin levels Referral

Ideally these would have been tested prior to operation

Check your recent test results

What vitamin supplements are you taking

Retest thyroid 6-8 weeks after any dose or brand change in levothyroxine

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

I would guess you are estrogen dominant. Whether you are in menopause or not depends on if you have had a period or not within a year, or if it’s been erratic for a year. I take bioidentical progesterone for those type of symptoms after gyno poisoned me with high dose birth control. Making me more estrogen dominant.
