Normal TSH slightly elevated ft4

Hi,

I’m 44 years old. In October my blood work came back showing normal tsh but slightly elevated ft4 at 1.2 with no symptoms.

Was asked to repeat in 3 months. Now after 3 months the ft 4 has come down to 1.13 (the lab normal is 1.12. I know this because last year it was 1.12 and it said that was “within range”). I have anxiety and rapid heart rate but I have a history of generalized anxiety and due to some family events it’s been bad since October. So, those symptoms could be from my GAD. I’ve had similar symptoms in the past when Ive had anxiety triggered.

My question is, could I have subclinical hyperthyroidism with these numbers? My ft4 has come down since Oct

Without more testing it's difficult to say. You need your FT3 tested as well as your FT4, and a full range of antibodies:

TRAB and TSI for Graves'

TPOab and TgAB for Hashi's.

So, what do you call a 'normal' TSH? You haven't given us the exact numbers and 'normal' is meaningless. :)

High T4 could well lead to anxiety.
