Tsh testing time

Hi all lack of information on here is due to being identified so it's very brief. I dropped by 2.5mg around 3 weeks ago. Tsh in Sept was 1.6 which was done in the morning. Just checked my latest which was done around 5pm.and it was 1.2 now I know Tsh can vary anyway and given I have been ill as well I presume this is ok and that dropping by 2.5mg has not had a massive impact.

Welcome aboard

I don't quite understand, as you say not enough information to go on.... how you are feeling is probably the more useful gauge

Will your GP not test you? What is your daily dose now?

Have only just had the Tsh done our labs won't do T3 or T4 unless the Tsh is out of whack.

Sorry just to add 7.5mg one day and 5mg the next Mon to Friday then Sat Sunday 5mg both days. Had been on 7.5 one day and 5mg the next all week for a year till the last 3 weeks.

I'm no expert on carbimazole but I believe it to be fast acting so if you think it is suppressing you too much I'd be inclined to skip it for a day or two and see if you feel any improvement and then restart at just 5mg a day and see how you go 🤗

presumably you mean you lowered carbimazole by 2.5mcg ?

yes, TSH will be a little lower at 5pm than it would have been if you'd done an early a.m test .

the lower dose may have lowered your TSH a little bit , or it may not , we can't know .

obviously ft4 / ft3 results would give you a better idea of the effect it has had ..

.but you need to bear in mind that 3 wks is probably not long enough for the lower dose to show in your TSH level,

tattybogle Yes I have reduced my Carbimazole by 2.5mg per week which is nothing really, I need to do a mmh test I think so I can gage where I am at in a couple of weeks.

yes, 2.5mcg a week is a tiny tweek , i thought you meant 2.5 a day :) .. but yes, see what results are ( and how you feel )once you've been on lower dose for about 6 wks .
