Quandary - Timings T3/T4

Hello helpful community - I have a quandary.

I will be almost 6 weeks into trial T3 (5 mcg plus my usual T4 100mcg).

I had improvements in first two weeks but then backslided and I am knackered, hoarse voice, backache, etc, not least fighting disheartenment.

Anyway - my endo is lovely but has emphasised that my blood needs to be taken 3 to 5 hours after taking the T3.

I currently take both together around 9am. I need to book the test. The T3 is a roma capsule and (presumably) not adjustable?

I just want to do the right thing but also not jeopardise anything.

I really don't know what to take, when. Despite numerous reads of other posts for direction. Brain fart.

Help!

Get tested at 9am BEFORE taking daily Levo

Night before test …..split your 5mcg capsule open - take approx half dose at 9pm

and set alarm for 5am to take remainder of T3

What vitamin supplements are you taking

IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 5-7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

Thank you - so on day I start the split I still do my usual 9am? (So 9am usual, 9pm half a capsule, 5am other half... yes?)

I'm taking folic acid, vit d/k2, magnesium and still those berrocca that I need to finish before switching to a better B, as recommended. Not taking anything with biotin.

Your input is much appreciated x

Yes

Doesn’t Berroca contain biotin ?

Hello there.... no... its the immune support one (b6 9 and 12, vit c, zinc, selenium, zinc, iron, copper, vit d, e & a) . No biotin.

I bought a little stock of them but once used up I am going to get the briad spectrum balanced B Thorne one you recommended.

Thank you. Much appreciated.

I should stop it ….at best a waste of money

But could be cause of issues

Never supplement iron unless done full iron panel test

Iron is extremely toxic if you don’t need it

Thyroid patients often have high copper

Don’t take unless tested

I had a full iron panel done and need to have it repeated now.

At the time I was 38 % through range and my folate was on low end too.

I didn't know about copper! I will have to look that up - thanks for the tip.

Recommend you start taking a good quality vitamin B complex after blood test

You can test copper, selenium, zinc and magnesium via Blue Horizon
