Welcome aboard... fear not we all 'get it' here 🙃 do you have any recent results to share?

General advice would be....

Make sure you have a full thyroid panel showing fT3 and fT4 results, drawn before 9am, fasted, water only and 24 hours after last dose of levothyroxine

Always stick to the same brand, they do differ and some may not suit you, especially if you are lactose, mannitol or acacia intolerant

Important to optimize folate, Vit D, B12 and ferritin never mind Dr says 'normal' 🙄

We have a natter about heme iron.... healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Search on here is a bit limited but it will bring up lots of threads under 'iron infusion' 🤗

Aww thank you SO much trigger me l, for the advice as well as the support and care 🥰

My last thyroid panel was

Thyroid 24/10 TSH : 5.2 ; Free t4 : 10.3 ; Free t3 : 4

And with iron Iron 24/10

Iron :12.3 He: 149 Ferritin : 26

The gp doesn’t not offer levothyroxine yet but I was looking into ancestral supplements beef thyroid.

the haematologist recommended the iron infusion; I have the first if 3 booked for next week and hope this will go well.

My diet is quite good and I am worried if the root of the problem is my gut and absorption.

Do you have the ranges for your thyroid results as they vary from lab to lab but with a TSH above 3 you are certainly Hypothyroid and likely suffering symptoms, low stomach acid which reduces uptake of nutrients is a key thing making supplementing things like B12, Vit D, folate and ferritin often essential

What do you mean by the ranges. Also would you suggest supplementing with betane for stomach acid.

Again thank you so much. You’ve already offered me more guidance and understanding than the people in the medical profession that I’ve seen

Betaine can certainly help, others like apple cider vinegar but what you really need is to get your thyroid hormones sorted

so very grateful

Example using some common ranges (in brackets)

TSH 5.2 mIU/L (0.25 - 4.2) 125.3%

Free T4 (fT4) 10.3 pmol/L (12 - 22) -17.0%

Free T3 (fT3) 4 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8) 24.3%

T4:T3 Ratio 2.575

By converting to a % we can compare results which use different ranges

I am treated for hypothyroidism (I don’t know if it is hashi, tests were negative). Iron infusions keep me well! I’ve had three over the last three years. I have iron deficiency anaemia. I cannot tolerate iron tablets (digestive issues) which is why I was referred to NHS haematology by GP. When my iron goes low, it affects T4 & T3. See my profile for the long version 🙂

Aww thank you so much for sharing and for your response. Yes I too cannot take the tablets ; I actually think that they have messed up my gut even though I’ve stopped taking them. I’ve been so scared to take the infusion after hearing people have horrible side effects with ferrainject, but feel that it is quite necessary as both my iron and ferritin levels are so low, my t3 and t4 are low, my hair is falling out profusely, I’m exhausted and I have really big black circles under my eyes.

So again thank you so much for sharing your story and I wish you all the best x
