Hi again everyone. After my thyroid review and obtaining a increase in my thyroxine I have been worse walking and balance. I did tell the Dr in the phone best I could about the walking was something I can't just put up with hoping it disappears as the other Dr suggested it would once levels were correct my cholesterol has dropped a bit since treatment but as still not at right dosage I had told him I wasn't taking the statin as I would rather wait until thyroid treated and see . The last review Dr agreed that was the way to go. .I told this Dr that was why I didn't want to.take stations and fact I heard you shouldn't if hypothyroid.

I have just logged into my system online account and my records from last week where he has put osteoarthritis and pure cholesteraemia episode. I looked this up and it says inherited from both parents. And now making it seem like I had chest pains which I hadn't complained of I am quite annoyed at this being in record from where I don't know. Both my parents died from cancer mum had brain tumour and spine cancer dad had acute myeloid leukaemia . Far as I know we're never diagnosed with any cholesterol problems .where has this come from and are they allowed to just write things in your record that aren't correct. .I am concerned now that a Dr will read this and assume I have had problems .I feel like I just want to.change Drs now. He also didn't say osteoarthritis was causing my walking problems no tests have shown anything that severe needed treatment . I have never seen this Dr face to face. Anything on my records will look like it's substantiated yes I have cholesterol problem with my thyroid being low. . This is even more upsetting. Drs adding things you didnt know. .x

Janice if your not happy with what has been recorded as a true reflection of your consultation, you can email the practise manager and state that you are concerned and why. Ask for the record to be altered and say in what way.

I have done this and the record was amended.

Yes. I’ve done this.

However, they will not remove the original comment. If they think appropriate, they’ll put in an amended comment and label it as such.

My husband was diagnosed with familial hypercholesteraemia (pure) as you were on the basis of a routine cholesterol test. This was 13 years ago. Neither of his parents had cholesterol or cardiac problems so we’ve often wondered how this diagnosis was reached

Edit

Aah Maybe we should have tried to research this a little more. This is only a Wiki link but gives a good summary of the criteria used

Have you checked all three things TSH, T4 and importantly T3. What thyroid medication do you take. When I was going through a really bad time with my thyroid levels not been managed correctly, I had severe difficulty walking amongst other symptoms. The reason I couldn’t walk hardly was because my T3 level was far too low. Even though my T4 level was high I wasn’t converting T4 to the most important hormone T3. T3 gives you the energy and strength to move properly. I was eventually given combination treatment of T4 levothyroxine plus T3 liothyronine medications. Oh boy what a huge change that made. Importantly if your walking has got worse since the levothyroxine increase you might well be over medicated. Remember over or under medication symptoms feel very similar for many people. I would get your bloods checked to include T3 and see what your TSH, T4 and T3 levels are now. I would also do the blood draw after your levo dose do not leave it out as you need to check if you’re going over the level or not. If you leave out the dose prior to the test you won’t know how high it’s getting. I think you maybe on too much from what your saying. If you GP won’t test T3 then go for doing it privately on line through Monitor My Health. It’s not expensive and you’ll get the full picture.

Regarding your faceless Dr writing things on your NHS file that is incorrect, this once happened to me. I would write to the practise manager and request that the comments are corrected. I don’t think they can be removed but the GP concerned can do a follow up comment to correct the information. The NHS file is yours not belonging to anyone else. So if you feel something is fundamentally wrong you can request it to be corrected. If the practice manager is not helpful say you are considering contacting PALS regarding this matter. I think they won’t want PALS involvement and will correct for you. Remember it’s your file not theirs!

Ask nicely who put this on your record and for it to be put right. They may even have updated the wrong patient's record. I hate telephone appointments, so i efficient. Ultimately you have a "Right to Rectification" if they are resistant.

Thank you all. I was hoping to do that and correct the records. . I couldn't believe he has just put that as I was saying yet again that my cholesterol should come down with my thyroid being sorted . He was laughing at certain things including the thought that my walking could be affected yet one of the first Drs I saw put me on thyroxine and when I said nothing's being done about my walking problem he said we'll it could all go away when levels correct but won't happen quickly . And that was also said at my chest clinic app.in June. That Dr said underactive thyroid can affect mobility . Hips spine etc. I told this Dr all this as he was just saying you have arthritis hip knee dear. That is prob causing pain. .I said not in pain that stops me walking I get a sudden sharp pain if.walk say ten steps then goes instantly if stop . Then get short sharp pain in right foot puts you off a bit . It feels more like tiny steps and hard work. . Holding on hubby arm and stick the other. . My spine is sore at base but I can bend pick things up .hip hurts of getting on and out car or getting in bed . One physio said bursitis hip before this all got worse. Then it was greater trochanteric hip pain .bit arthritis hip knee joint but nothing to get me seen by orthaepedics tho I keep asking . I can't walk hardly. Can't claim blue badge as no proof anything . So I have arthritis that's cause of it all acc to this Dr I have never seen .x rays and Mr I spine 2 months ago aren't saying anything that causes it esp on left side . I can't see that I have proof enough to get blue badge even . If he doesn't think it's thyroid related then he must have some proof of arthritis being cause. I know its to do with thyroid as been getting steadily worse as was my cholesterol levels .heart Dr said all ok but your cholesterol risen steadily need to get thyroid treated I had twice and been very unwell. Had to come off . Been off for 13 years now. Yes it's all very hard being unwell and Drs who don't seem to agree on things. Thanks for all advice. I don't think over medicated I know what that feels like from the past but the t3 may need checking. Just don't think Drs will take any notice as people say just tsh. I could ask be referred someone who knows endocrine I suppose it was supposed to be actioned last November on my first app to this new surgery .but it didn't happen as the Dr triaged them to ask question .that cancelled my referral. If affecting walking I would think gps.with little knowledge of conflicting knowledge aren't going to help me. Thanks. Your opinions have helped me a lot. Xxx

Hi Janine,

Apologies for rushed reply. I just quickly read through your post; you said you don't have evidence to apply for a blue badge? Have you applied before or have you been turned down? Also if you're in receipt of certain benefits you would automatically qualify.

You seem to be saying that you have arthritis and other issues? I think you really should consider applying. Also if there's any doubt they may ask you to come in for a face to face assessment.

I realise this is a thyroid forum so will not go on at length.

Sorry I can't help with GP/medical record issues I have problems too.

Get all the false info removed … I just dealt with this very thing myself….my record stated I had a hysterectomy because I didn’t want children when in fact I hysterectomy because I had ovarian cancer …. This false reporting on health records is destructive and can cause treatment issues.

It’s your data and under GDPR you have a right to inaccurate information being corrected. If it hasn’t been done, raise a formal complaint with the GP surgery. So it’s clear, include a print out and strike through the section you want removed.

I dont know if you are in England, but the following web site may be of help:-

transform.england.nhs.uk/in...

My hospital records were completely wrong. I am currently tackling this, as detailed notes about my treatment were recorded on an appointment I did not get asked to or attend!

Yes I am in England British . Thanks I will get sell the correct info off my records sorted tomorrow and send to the practice manager .I have a hope of seeing the spine specialist prob Feb March next year .expect it will take that long something that this same Dr could have done last year. Junior Dr under him had authorised thyroid referral .a orthaepedic referral as wasnt walking well ..and checking my.gall bladder after operation as abdo didn't.feel right ..he rang to.tell me that he WOULD refer me should My x rays show a problem ..but I never did get referred . Obviously not being able walk wasn't that serious. Still no better a year later . My.only hope was getting my thyroid to optimum level but when I said this to him he laughed and said usually low thyroid means you feel a bit fatigued... I was just stuck for words .all the things we suffer and he thinks it's so trivial .even the chest clinic Dr had told me he.learnt it at med school. Affects mobility pain hips spine .I find it worrying that a gp with that view is actually in charge of my health .what hope is there ? Thanks everyone will.see how I get on .having changed surgeries after 42 years with same one.i hoped this one would be better .if I complain too much I will be embarrassed to go there anyway .i don't want that Dr dealing with my thyroid anymore .a year has passed of being unable do things I would like .no walks with hubby anymore crossing the room.is hard enough a.lot of stress caused as no answer to being investigated there's more than spine issues that can affect your walking I am sure x
