Lightheadedness symptom of hyperthyroidism

I haven’t been officially diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and am doing the thyroid tests with Blue Horizon tomorrow morning but my symptoms are all over the place. (GP did TSH 2 months ago which was 3.8 and then last week was 0.1)

Yesterday I ended up in A&E with tachycardia. God awful feeling. Today I’m just very lightheaded/off balance. Anyone have any insight as to whether this is all linked?

Thanks

Before my thyroid medication was optimal, I ended up in A and E with palpitations, tremor etc and also experienced weight loss (which I think you mentioned in a previous post). Even though these are often seen as ‘hyper like’ symptoms, it is possible to experience these with hypothyroidism. Have you had thyroid antibodies tested to determine if you are actually hyperthyroid?

It would be useful to share your blood test results as soon as you receive them, with ranges (as these can vary between laboratories).

Do remember to complete the blood draw early morning and take daily thyroid medication afterwards (not before).

Thank you. As soon as they come back may I share them with you as I’ve had more reassurance on here than with GP (so far).

According to the scales in A&E I’ve lost 6lbs in 4 weeks without trying, although navigating these symptoms is making me lose my appetite through worry.

Increased anxiety has been the worst symptom of having a thyroid condition for me and it is always worse if thyroid medication or key vitamins (ferritin, folate, vitamins B12 and D) are not optimal.

Definitely share your results and any ongoing symptoms in a new post. We are here to help and support 🦋

Hi there. Just got my tests back from Blue Horizon but not sure whether they show hyper or hypo? Any ideas?

Thankfully the palpitations and tremor are being dealt with by newly prescribed beta blockers!

I would start a new post with these results for others to comment.

Just to provide further information on antibody tests:

Graves Disease (hyperthyroidism) needs to be confirmed via positive TRab or TSI:

TRab

TSH receptor antibodies

TSI

Thyroid-Stimulating Immunoglobulin

TPO & TG antibodies may be Graves or Hashimotos.

 TPOab

Thyroid Peroxidase antibodies

TGab

Thyroglobulin antibodies

Hashimoto’s frequently starts with transient hyperthyroid results and symptoms before becoming more hypothyroid as thyroid becomes increasingly damaged

Important to get thyroid antibodies and vitamin levels tested as well as TSH, Ft4 and Ft3

Test early morning if possible for highest TSH
