I've recently had ALOT of bloods tests done at St James in Leeds but I am struggling to get access to them and just wondering if anyone knows how to get access to them?
I've never had any problems at York, the results just go on patient knows best app but Leeds doesn't seem to have that facility and every department has denied me access to them and medical records don't reply to email and also told me over the phone that the consultant can say no to the patient having the results.
I'm not sure that's correct as legally I thought patients had the right to see their results.
Any ideas of how to access them?
Thanks

I usually find hospital websites have information available where to obtain a form or contact to obtain record.
I’ve looked on St James Leeds & I keep getting navigated to freedom of information forms online rather than GDPR, hospitals usually have their own form but a written request can be submitted too.
You have legal right to them. In very exceptional circumstances a medical professional may withhold information if would cause serious harm. Potentially being upset by results or refusing any / or a recommended treatment is not sufficient grounds.
Hi Lucy , Hopefully your hospital will like mine have an app called ,Patients know best .,a laugh in itself really but I downloaded it and all results ,appointments etc are sent via that , but tbh I still don't know how to understand my bloodtest result s !!,hope this is helpful x
I have that issue at a different trust and have had to submit an IG form which takes upto 6 weeks to be actioned - which is useless to me. All very secret squirrel. Yet other trusts and gp stuff is all online. What the hell is going on with this variation in access. I imagine it relates to the number of claims. I have multiple comorbidities, some life threatening, care delivered by 10 different trusts, travel around a lot in uk and get fed up with multiple blood draws for similar things. I compile my own tracker based on all the tests I have access to which has been useful at times to compare against what’s ‘normal’ for me. I’d say it’s almost essential for patients to have this in the stressed nhs we have at present.
Hi everyone, I've had to put in an access to records request which they can take upto 30 days to deal with. Seems absolutely stupid for a big hospital to be so reluctant to share records with their patients. All the departments I spoke to said no, absolutely no way do they give out blood results and none were helpful at all but I eventually found the way to subject access.
At York they have patient knows best and the results are just automatically uploaded up to there but Leeds seems to be in the dark ages for some reason.
So I will get my hands on them but you really shouldn't have to go through subject access every time you need access to your blood results.
Its like they want to keep you in the dark but when you have a number of issues and are struggling to get the right treatment, you know you can't rely on them solely and need to know your own figures.
