what makes you think that?

Do those various symptoms/preexisting diagnosis not scream thyroid disease to you?

Not really… the only symptoms I read were kidney transplant and anxiety and depression or have I missed something whilst half asleep this morning? 🙃

Anxiety and depression could be a number of root causes not just thyroid and we know she has a lupus diagnosis?

I think she has bipolar as well as Lupus.

I know Lupus, which Gomez is diagnosed with, carries risks to both mother and foetus. Like Hashimotos, this is an auto immune condition. However, I haven’t read she has issues with her thyroid.

The majority of medicines used for bipolar are at least not known to be safe in pregnancy. (Category C.)

Carbemazepine and Valproate and Topirmate are all category D. (Though I suspect at least Valproate would have a worse rating now.)

This could be sufficient to explain the headline issue. Without further speculation.

I saw the other day that men who take Sodium Valproate are also being urged to use extra contraception methods.

Yes - but that seems to be extraordinarily controversial.

I suspect some are reading it as a ban on procreation by those who suffer the disorders in which valproate is prescribed. I really haven't followed it - just noticed that there has been fallout from the MHRA statement.

At least thyroid issues should be ruled out with the correct testing - especially as auto-immune issues tend to hunt in packs....

That’s my thought too.

She has Lupus. And Bipolar disorder. I believe it's because she's on drugs which don't make pregnancy safe.
