I had mine tested by the doc when they did a second TSH prior to diagnosis, with no reference range, so I didn’t know if they were positive or not (they were, but despite positive antibodies, many symptoms and below range T4, my results were ignored and treatment not started). I tested them when I continued feeling unwell, they had gone up, I had a range, knew they were positive, went back to the doc, took advice from here, eliminated gluten from my diet, started T4.
Then when MMH started testing them and gave us an offer on the complete thyroid package with TPOab for a lower price than without I tested them again.
I don’t know whether it’s the progressive destruction of my thyroid by my immune system or whether it’s the lack of gluten in my diet, or that I’m a few years older, or any other random thing about me. My TPOab levels had halved from my previous private test. Still positive, but much lower.
