Does this look like a thyroid issue? Swollen neck

This is a friend of mine; apologies for the black scribbles! I couldn't anonymise it any other way on my phone. 😂

I think she's got an ever so slightly swollen neck and a 'thyroid necklace' but I'd like other opinions before I say anything, please.

She has autoimmunity in her family, including hashimotos.

Thank you 🧡

That swelling in that area of her neck looks suspicious to me of being thyroid related.

Does she feel unwell?

Suggest she gets thyroid levels and vitamin levels tested, book for 9am or earlier, fasted, no biotin supplement 4-7 days before test.

She's tired and has frequent UTI's. She's vegan so the tiredness could be linked to that.

I'll encourage her to test. Thank you. :)

Definitely encourage her to get a thyroid test (via GP initially) and explain the importance of an early morning test (when TSH will be highest).

Will do! Hopefully not thyroid but odds are against her at the minute! 🙈

I know what a goitre and hypothyroidism is, thanks. I was looking for confirmation before approaching my friend so as not to unnecessarily worry her.

I would argee a goitre is caused by hypothyroidism, but not severe hypothyroidism.

No need to scaremonger, thanks.

I'm aware.

I was diagnosed in 2020 and now well medicated. I dose differently to you so perhaps you can be mindful in the future that what works for you isn't the only way to medicate.

I take 150mcg T4 and 35mcg T3 all at once in the morning. Works for me!

I gave my example to give you an idea, while specifying that the doses are individual for each person. It's up to each person to test the dosage and frequency. I'm pleased to hear that you've found your dose.
