Does my neck look swollen?

Hello all, I went to my GP for my blood results and she informed me everything is normal except for my thyroid, which was just a tad below. She then looked at my neck, and said have you noticed the right side is swollen? She looked a bit concerned and it scared me. I have a referral for an ultrasound and for more blood tests of the thyroid as they were only slightly lowered. Can you tell me if my neck looks swollen? I always thought it was just a bit fatty on that side.

Hi there if you get copies of your blood test results and ranges others will comment, it is good your gp is doing some more blood tests for the thyroid and scan, bloods should include tsh, free3, free4, antibodies for hashimotos and graves even though these would probably be done at a later stage and also ferritin, b12, vit d, folate would be helpful as defiencies come hand in hand with thyroid disease-always always get copies of your bloods, never take gps word for it as they are just a little below - gps dont really know enough about the thyroid or know how to read the results properly on most occassions. Thanks for your reply, I go back next week and I will be sure to get copies of my results. I've got to say I'm so nervous. Obviously my worst fear is the C word and since she said it's swollen on only one side, it definitely has me worried.

Your neck does look a little swillen, did she feel your neck at all? But either way you are going for a scan which is good and will tell alot of things-please dont worry most of us here have had scans-im on my 2nd one on 5th march-its fine.😊😊

She didn't feel my neck. Once she seen my results, she looked at my neck and said wow have you noticed one side is bigger! And then said she's no expert, she's only trained to notice if there is something wrong and will refer me from there.

Were you nervous for your tests? Did they find anything?

Please do not worry- i do have nodules on my thyroid and a thickening due to auto immune disease Hashimotos but for you it is too early to go into things like that, it is normal to feel nervous but honestly you are worrying too much and overthinking-1st things are your bloods and get the scan results, you have nothing to fear and if you prove to have thyroid disease it will be treated accordingly but nothing with the thyroid happens quickly. When you get your results please post them on the main page so other forum users can help-this forum is a wonderful site full of caring people who can make you very knowledgeable. Please do not worry and read scare sories as you will be ok-honest!!😊
