How soon can I re-test folate levels?

After getting a low folate blood test, I have changed my diet to greatly increase folate intake (can't tolerate any folate supplement).

How soon can I take another blood test to see if my levels have come up?

It has been 3 weeks since I changed my diet.

You would need to give it a good 3-4 months but if you have MTHFR genes you’re unlikely to be able to get enough folate from your diet.

Which folate supplements have you tried? There are several different types.

Ah I see that's a long time!

I've tried them all: methyl folate, folic acid, folinic acid, folate from lemons as a pill. Tried in tiny amounts, still get the symptoms.

What symptoms does it give you?

Could additives in the supplement be an issue?

Really awful body pain, tension, headaches, ill feeling - very strong reaction. Definitely not the additives.

Have you mentioned this to your GP? Sorry I dont have any suggestions if you have tried all the different types.

thank you, no I haven't but hopefully addressing diet might have an effect - I will see with the next blood test!
