I'm on t4/t3 combination and have been prescribed amoxycillin for ear infection. Will it affect my medication?

hi

I hope your ear feels better soon, ear infections are so debilitating.

I can’t answer the T3/T4 bit more than to say space out the doses so you have an opportunity to absorb the hormones before taking the antibiotics. Someone will know how long gap to leave.

What I did want to say was to recommend taking a probiotic like S. Boulardii while taking anti biotics to try and protect your gut microbiome which will be damaged affecting your good gut bacteria that you need to maintain good health (especially if autoimmune/Hashi) in the book Supergut Dr William Davies also recommended low sugar high vegetable with the S Boulardii to keep the good bacteria up and avoid an overgrowth of the less beneficial/ more harmful SIBO and SiFO types.

Hope that helps 🌱

This was good advice from the late SeasideSusie

Whenever I've had to take an antibiotic multiple times a day, I work out the timing of the antibiotics (it usually says space evenly) then find the time which is furthest away from any of them and take my Levo then. It might mean taking it at a completely different time than normal for the few days of the course of ABs but it won't hurt.

If you get up for the loo in the middle of the night that might be the best time, or bedtime, or early morning before you get up.

I currently take a maintenance antibiotic, one tablet three times a week. I currently take my Levo around 7am and take my AB afternoon or evening.

I would add take a good probiotic too, antibiotics can play havoc with the gut

I'm often prescribed abx for cuti and they cause an upset!

Hope the ear infection clears up soon.
