Guideline 23
The Thyroid UK forum guidelines are always accessible on this pinned post:
Forum Posting Guidelines
healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...
We ask that all members read them and very much hope you do so. However, in time, we can forget what was there, or misremember, or whatever.
Hence, I am posting this short reminder of the guidelines in full.
And (today) of this specific item:
23. Any post, post title or comment considered to be advertising or of a promotional nature (that has not been previously sanctioned by Thyroid UK) will be edited or removed at the discretion of the Admin team. The poster may or may not be notified.
This guideline requires to be interpreted in the context of the post or reply.
Any outright advertisement will be deleted.
Any posts or replies which consist mostly of links to sites known to exist primarily to promote sales, they too will be removed. This includes where the sales side is by offering what is claimed to be health information but that is just primarily as clickbait.
Also links that go to sites which inundate visitors with popups, force registration, etc.
If a member mentions some product name/brand name in the context of their post or reply, just to identify what they are talking about, that is fine. A very obvious example is when manufacturers of thyroid hormone medicines are discussed.
Between those extremes there is a difficult area. In general, if you do not need to mention a manufacturer/brand name, then don’t. If you don’t need to post a link to a product or service, don’t. But if you do feel you need to, try to do so without making feel like an advertisement. If it is just an example, then maybe mention that other similar products are available.
Note that HealthUnlocked’s own guidelines also apply:
