Not feeling to well.. BP abnormal 🤦

Hi everyone ❤️

Can I ask for a bit of advice 🙏

Backstory... Started to feel ill on Sunday 28th with a cough and aches and pains with a slight bad headache, thought ho it's probably a head cold /flu.

Started with paracetamol for symptoms all was OK, by Wednesday my aches and pains were easing my cough was better, thought great it's going, then on late Wednesday night I had the most awful sickness with what at first was just felling sick nausea, then actually being sick with the worst bad headache palpitations shaking, I couldn't keep fluids down or any meds including my thyroid medication.

I checked my BP and had readings as follows... 168/103...172/104...and today at (12.12)..157/103..then 12.30...161/99...all are saying abnormal.

I rang my surgery as I feel wretched, they told me to ring 111 which I did, spoke to lady she in turn told me she would put it to my gp surgery and they would contact me, they did about half an hour ago, they want me to attend the surgery 🤦 I've been bedridden since Sunday, I feel weak and are being sick.. I can bearly get to my bathroom which is the next room to my bedroom, I certainly cannot get changed and get into a taxi to go to my local town to see a gp... Does anyone think my BP is cause for concern?

I have primary hyperparathyroidism and are wondering if my calcium as yet again risen? As the symptoms are the same when it went high the last time.

I personally would muster all your strength and see the GP birkie, as repeatedly high BP readings need investigating. Otherwise, explain your inability to travel to the practice and push for a home visit.

Sending you very best wishes 🦋

Thank you, I certainly can't travel to my surgery, I've just been to my bathroom which is just next-door to my bedroom I'm so weak and dizzy(got diarrhoea now to)

Would you consider a call to A& E it sounds as if you need immediate medical attention.... not just being sent from pillar to post.

Just call your GP in the morning and tell them. They should offer you blood pressure monitoring.

birkie in reply toJaydee1507

I have my own blood pressure machine, I don't think they are open because the lady I spoke to said were not open till Tuesday because of the bank hols, if I get 2 more abnormal bps tomorrow morning I'm just going to go to hospital

before starting you on a blood pressure tablet they may well want to do their own monitoring with a 24 hour recording.

I'd recommend phoning 111 which might save you a long wait in a@e.

I really think my BP is abnormal because my calcium may have shot up again, I have primary hyperparathyroidism and I always feel this way when my calcium goes over range, it's just that it's happened when I've developed this cold or flu, it can happen when I don't keep my fluids up, and because of this cold/flu I've not been drinking much🤦

It's not just the BP but also the other symptoms that are making you feel so unwell .....making it best to be thoroughly checked out.

Don't suffer in silence!

No gp would come out,😡 the only thing she suggested was a blood test on Tuesday next week, but did say if I get worse just call que doc and maby I could get seen, last 2 blood pressure tests were 161/99 and one done at 4. 25 at 152/101) I still feel nauseous and still have a really bad headache, I did manage to stomach some paracetamol but they haven't taken the headache away unfortunately, I honestly don't know what's best to do

So much for the 'caring profession! The attitude of some GPs infuriates me! Is there a Walk In clinic near you that you could possibly get to by taxi? A taxi driver will poss have more compassion than yr GP!

I've just took another BP reading says abnormal again at 128/102... 4 days of abnormal BP readings.. im now going to ring 111 as waiting in A&E would be a no. No.. everyime I move I wretch up, just fluid I'm bringing back tho... But my urine looks like dark brandy this morning, obviously lack of fluid can account for the colour, but I've got left flank pain in my loin to so reckon kidney with probable raised calcium is the cause

I really don't know what the NHS service do... I was advised by 111 yesterday that if my circumstances change, I feel worse I should call 111 or cue doc, as I would need an assessment, I've just rang 111 explaining everything, I did all this yesterday with 111, and I should be assessed by the hospital or ambulance staff, I'm now left with an out of hours gp to call me to do an assessment over the phone, it's no wonder patients die waiting to be seen, and the silly 5 step questions you have to endure is well silly... If I was vomiting blood or passing blood from my back passage I'd just ring for an ambulance (been there done that before) I just don't want this to escalate as it has before when they dittered about as to weather I should be admitted to hospital, by that time I was very ill and spent 15 days in hospital.

Please don’t hang about! The NHS is supposed to be there FOR you. You cannot carry on vomiting ad nauseum (sorry for that ) and you must do what is best for YOU. You need medical assistance. Just wish there was more we could do as you really need someone with you. Please let us know you are ok+when the cavalry arrives.

Thanks to everyone who responded to me over the last few days ❤️ it made me feel like I needed to take action and get myself checked out, I'm of the elk, I've to be practically dying before I'd seek attention because we're always told.. Don't use A&E or your surgery unless it's absolutely necessary. But really it's been such a task in getting to see a doctor, all the automated crap... Press 1 for this 2 for this🤦.. I got a phone assessment, then we're told I'd need to be seen... Great I thought, so I asked who would be coming to assess me.... "Ho you'll need to get to your nearest hospital" I'll book you in for 11.30"...how the hell I made it I'll never know, what with wrenching, and a £12 taxi ride from which if I was able to, I can see the hospital from the end of my close😡

To be seen by a hospital doctor who proceeded to ask me if I needed my chest looked at, 😲 did I want him to do my blood pressure and heart rate WTH!! 😲 I asked if he could just stop me wrenching, he gave me a tablet for sickness, then took bloods and sent me home..said if bloods come back abnormal I'd be contacted🤦.... This is the nhs😡😡😡

Not good enough! When you're more yourself, I think a letter of complaint is a necessity! Was the Dr a real one or had he just left school+pretending! What with being told to use your pharmacist rather than yr GP (what a joke)+others not knowing the **** from their elbow, it's a wonder anyone survives!🥴

The system is totally flawed, he looked young, the hospital was very empty certainly not rushed off its feet, he never examined my neck eventho I told him I had a sore throat, he appeared to be ticking boxes🤦 he even tried using a latex glove as a tourniquet to draw blood😲 well that just snapped, then off he went to look for a strap, honestly where as the professionalism gone🤷

I believe the NHS is now filled with activists and not caring professionals. That's why so many of us have to go private+do without other things!

I'm shocked to hear this! I am a british citizen living in North Cyprus. I always thought the medical care here was terrible in comparison to the UK and I always trusted UK medical care. However if you went to the Dr, A&E or even just the pharmacy with that blood pressure they would immediately give you a tablet to put under your tongue. This tablet dissolves and helps reduce your blood pressure short-term then they would conduct blood tests, ECG, Effort test and move forward from those results. They woud definitely keep you in untill all results come back.
