How much levothyroxine have you been taking

Your Ft4 is over range

Suggest you reduce back a little

Are you now on gluten free diet

Taking 150mcg levo and not gluten free. Do you think i should try 125 for few weeks then test again?

Perhaps reduce by 12.5mcg twice a week initially…..so that’s a reduction of just 25mcg per week

Retest in 8 weeks

How do you feel

Always worth trying gluten free diet

Does ft4 cause osteoporosis?

I certainly wouldn’t want my FT4 over range, so I would reduce your Levo dosage. I like to adjust slowly, so you don’t miss your sweet spot where you feel most well. I reduce by 12.5mcg initially and build up to a 25mcg reduction. I find a pill cutter a handy tool. Retest levels after 6-8 weeks on a consistent lowered dose.

Did you complete the GF trial as suggested by SlowDragon in your last post?

I did try but found it real hard. I must try it again if it makes so much difference...

My inflammatory food is dairy (have become dairy intolerant)... But I really recommend finding the food that causes you inflammation, be it gluten or anything else.

Cutting out my inflammatory food made a huge difference to pain levels, it took a month to feel the effects though.

12.5 mcg a day for how long? Then reduce to 25mcg a day,n

Some people are fine with a 25mcg reduction in one go, but I found I needed to reduce slowly, starting with 12.5mcg until well tolerated. Reducing to 25mcg might be over a couple of days or several weeks (we are all different- see how you feel).

Have you checked your reverse T3 (RT3) ? When T4 levels are high and T3 are lower in comparison, it may be that some of the T4 is getting converted to RT3.

RT3 will block the uptake of T3 into the cells so may cause hypo type symptoms / inflammation which causes us to increase medication and then get into a vicious cycle..

Inflammation can also drive increased RT3 so reducing inflammation (whatever the source) is also critical

How do i get to test rt3? Thank you so much for replying...

RT3 testing is not often worth getting. It is expensive and not readily available in the UK. It can take weeks to get a result.

The concept of rT3 blocking T3 seems to have been disproved hence some interpretations that have been placed on it are very questionable.

RT3 inhibits T4-T3 conversion. How worried should we be?
