I have toxic nodules on both sides of my thyroid and now have a date for a total thyroid Tony later this month. It is such a big step and I am not sure I am doing the right thing. I know where I stand on my current regime but have been told long term Carbimazole use will cause liver damage and is not recommended. I understand TT is irreversible and I will be on meds for life which my body may or may not work well with.
I understand that ultimately, this is my choice, however, knowledge is power so if anyone has any insight into this world they can share I would be really grateful. Time is short before the decision will need to be final.

If relatively well and getting on with your life stay with what you know :
Living without a thyroid is not as simple as it may have been described to you -
but it does move you through and out of the hospital and back into primary care for your local doctor to monitor and treat you for primary hypothyroidism.
