Covid and Thyroid

I don’t have research but a personal story. My daughter who is 23 contracted Covid last summer and I noticed she was really having a tough time. Went to the doctor was on the way to recovery and then rebounded I noticed she lost close to 30 pounds in three weeks. She started feeling better again but suddenly started having sever chest pains. Took her to the emergency room as her heart ratE was 160. She was admitted because they discovered her TSH was so suppressed they couldn’t even register what it was. The doctor la who worked with us stated they’ve been seeing more and more patients where Covid pushes them into Graves’ disease. They were n sure why. By the time she left the hospital she had a noticeable sweeping of her thyroid along with her thymus. It took about eight months but she’s in remission and had to get her levels checked every three months.

same happened to me in 2022 and ended up with AFib in hospital, from thyroid going overactive. Hope she stays in remission. Make sure it is reported to MHRA as they need to know rare issues
