Hello,I have been on Levothyroxine for 4 years and switched to Tirosent last year. I've noticed significant improvement in stomach and digestive issues and feel better overall.

Is it possible to heal the thyroid and come off medication safely?

Your previous posts show you have autoimmune thyroid disease (hashimoto’s)

Thyroid has been attacked by your immune system

So no, highly unlikely/impossible to stop replacement thyroid hormones

Like a diabetic needs insulin…….thyroid patients need replacement thyroid hormones

Hello Lilyrae, I would say I don't know for Sure. I heard u can eat very healthy Thyroid diet and take Selenium, and all the other Thyroid vitamins. Study it on Google. But I think it's best to stay on Tirosant . 🙂❤️

Did you keep to the same dose when you switched to Tirosint?

Several studies suggest that Tirosint is usually better absorbed than levothyroxine in tablet form. Therefore switching at the same dose amounts to a modest increase in dose.

That's interesting, I did not know that. I stayed at the same dosage.

Tirosent is a gluten free Levothyroxine in capsule form.

Theoretically a doctor could prescribe Tirosint.

But it would be a special import and the cost would make most doctors refuse.

"Gluten-free" applies to almost all UK medicines and certainly all levothyroxine products.

My document lists all available UK levothyroxine products and their excipients. Most contain one of the excipients suspected of causing issues: lactose, mannitol and/or acacia.

helvella's medicines documents (UK and Rest of the World) can be found here:

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines

helvella has created, and tries to maintain, documents containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world. There is now a specific world desiccated thyroid document.

The link below takes you to a blog page which has direct links to the documents from Dropbox and QR codes to make it easy to access from phones. You will have to scroll down or up to find the link to the document you want.

The UK document contains up-to-date versions of the Summary Matrixes for levothyroxine tablets, oral solutions and also liothyronine available in the UK. Includes descriptions of tablet markings which allow identification. Latest updates include all declared ingredients for all UK products and links to Patient Information Leaflets, etc.
