There are a number of devices that claim they help or work for sleep apnoea. They don't, simple as that, or hospitals would be handing them out.

Many OSA sufferers have held back from getting treatment or once they get it find difficulty with the CPAP machine and mask. There are now a good range of masks and lots of help available to use them.

The thought of using a CPAP machine is probably worse than actually using it and experiencing the benefits.

Yes you are most probably right there but I'm going away in 3 weeks I pity my cabin share and won't be seen nhs by then

Do you know if portable ones work at all. Are these masks on line

Theres a charity called Hope2sleep that you can do testing with and buy a machine & mask. They are very helpful and can all be done online.

A lot of people do private testing these past few years as waiting times so long on the NHS.

Do you currently use a Cpap machine? If so they do have portable machines but I think you need to have a sleep study test to get a CPAP Machine.

Sax lesson won’t help if you have sleep apnea.

I've read it can as you gain more strength in tubes

There's a thing called iqora also which can be prescribed

I don’t understand what you mean “more strength in tubes” the CPAP machine actually helps keep your airways open by blowing whatever your pressure is based on your sleep study.

I have sleep apnea and use a CPAP machine every night. I had my sleep test after having a night time tonic clonic seizure. Although my husband had asked me to go to the doctors several times as I snored and he said I stopped breathing when asleep. My sleep test showed that I did not sleep at any time during the night waking 30 times a hour. My blood oxygen dropped to the mid 7o's and my lowest heart rate was 47. So I was wrong and my husband was right. The sleep apnea did not cause the seizure because I had another one while using the machine and was later diagnosed with epilepsy.

The machine is strange at first but I soon got used to it and feel much better sleeping using it. My husband says it is not too noisy but not sexy which I should be glad of. When staying with my friends they are OK, even the one with insomnia manages to sleep though me using it.

Do get checked I did not realise the danger I was in with the risk of driving with sleep apnea. I'm not allowed to drive if I do not use my machine for at least 4 hour a night although I can have 2 nights without using it, because of travel for holidays, illness etc. There is a card in the machine that the hospital checks my usage on. They have only checked it once in 5 years.

I hope this helps
