Just reading this book - would definately recommend it. Thinking of ordering "The Thyroid Diet" too. Just ordered some "triphala" which it recommends for constipation - anyone tried it? (Ive tried everything else)

I’d never heard of triphala, so had a look on line. It should be avoided by those on blood thinners (if you or anyone reading is taking them)healthline.com/nutrition/tr...

There are lots of natural options to try for a range of symptoms. I recently trialled boswalia for an arthritic flare (but found I could only take a small amount as it upset my stomach). Definitely only trial one new thing at once, otherwise you won’t know which supplement is most beneficial.

Magnesium citrate is great for constipation

Presumably you are taking daily vitamin D anyway

Test twice yearly via NHS private testing service when supplementing

Vitamin D mouth spray by Better You is very effective as it avoids poor gut function.

There’s a version made that also contains vitamin K2 Mk7.

It’s trial and error what dose we need, with thyroid issues we frequently need higher dose than average

Not taking any vitimins. Maybe i should get tested. Just wanted to leave it until my next Endo appt in March so i could see what my levels are like clean. Is this a mistake? First day on my 50 dose, feel much brighter this morning.

What was most recent vitamin D test result

NHS easy postal kit vitamin D test £31 via

vitamindtest.org.uk

Government recommends everyone takes vitamin D daily at least October to April

With Hashimoto’s you will need to supplement continuously

Looking at previous posts your ferritin very low

Presumably you have significantly increased iron rich foods in your diet now

Folate was borderline

Likely to benefit from daily vitamin B complex

But wait at least a couple of weeks after starting levothyroxine before adding anything

Mary Shomon was the first person I looked to for information twenty-five years ago. She and Dr. Lowe were always supportive of thyroid patients. He, unfortunately, died due to a fall but was an advocate of T3.

Have you tried Oxy-Powder?

Thanks, no - Whats Oxy-Powder?

I read Mary`s book when I was newly diagnosed in 2000. It was a great help back then, when there were not many books about t3/t4 therapy, but research has made progress, patients are more empowered nowadays and some of her theories might be outdated. For instance, I don`t think she mentions thyroid hormone resistance or the need for t3 monotherapy in some patients.

Its a good start for me. Not got too technical as yet with my reading. Wtg to see how i feel on my meds first. But i will get deeper into it as i go along. Its very reassuring to look things up in there and lots of suggestions. Doubled my meds today but my face is numb down one side and my oxygen has dropped. It seems to be one step forward and teo back at the moment.i also have heart issues so i think theres a crossover. Cardiology waiting lists are 52wks if urgent. I live in hope that my meds will sort everything as i still cant walk to the end if the road without gasping for breath.
