I recently had a full thyroid panel work up. All numbers seem to be within range except my T3 levels seem just above the healthy limit. The range says 1.7-3.7 and my results came back as 1.8. Would this be enough to have an affect on my body? I have all the symptoms and my mother has been on medication for hypothyroidism for years. My worst symptom is that I could sleep all day long…I don’t WANT to sleep all day long but I’m SO drowsy. If anyone has any experience or insight I would be so grateful!

Thank you so much for these insights! My TSH and FT4 were within healthy range. It was just the T3 that was low. Vitamin D levels were also very low…outside of the range. I have not had the antibodies tested.
I have a feeling my doctor is going to say that all is fine because it’s within the limit. Should I see an endocrinologist? Could there be a chance my symptoms are still due to my thyroid or no?
It would indeed. Generally, you need free T3 to be in the upper third of its range to feel well on Levothyroxine, TSH should be well under 1 and free t4 in the upper third of its range as well. Them just being in range is meaningless it’s where in range that matters and of course the one that’s totally ignored - by many supposed professionals - how you feel, which is not good - it’s not normal to be wanting to sleep all day but it is a common hypothyroid symptom. Tell your doctor and insist it is not acceptable, how are you supposed to have a life if you want to be asleep for all of it!
