Following up on my post from yesterday… considering the hydrocortisone pills might be causing the stomach pain (maybe gastritis) and elevated liver enzymes. I need the hydrocortisone for secondary adrenal insufficiency. It’s the only way I can tolerate any thyroid hormone. My question is whether or not hydrocortisone cream works like the pills? I found a website that converts the pill dosage to cream dosage. Maybe avoiding the pills on my stomach would be beneficial. Does anyone use the cream for AI? Thank you!

Which hydrocortisone cream are you thinking of? The thing is, with topical hydrocortisone creams, it damages the skin over time. That’s why it’s not recommended to use them for eczema etc for more than a week or two at a time.
I think the other thing is that you’re just guessing at what’s causing what (I read your last post). I’d be minded to ask my GP for a referral to someone who properly understands liver disorders (because it sounds like your GP is guessing too and that’s just not good enough—you deserve to be taken seriously if you’re in pain).
I did the whole liver specialist thing last year when I was trialed on steroids and this same pain happened. He did a lot of sophisticated tests and scans, all of which came back normal. Took me off my steroid and everything resolved. If it didn’t resolve, then a liver biopsy was next on the list. This was before I was formally diagnosed with AI. Now that I’m formally diagnosed with it, steroid is a must. Seems like all the steroids out there cause me elevated liver enzymes. Doctors just tell me to take lowest dose possible which often backfires. GP didn’t want to send me back to liver specialist since we just did this whole exercise last year, but did order a scan that I had last week. That was normal. I also have mast cell activation so medicine just seems to interfere with me on a different level. Here is the link I found that explains hydrocortisone cream: rt3-adrenals.org/hydrocorti...
Sounds very similar to me! Did you have to crush the pills to get them in the capsule or how did you make themfit? I’m definitely interested in trying this. Did you notice a difference right away? Thank you!
I think I might have cut them in half to fit. It was a few years ago, but I’m almost certain the relief was immediate. I was able to sleep without being woken up with unbelievable chest pain. My Dr sent me to a cardiologist for it, but it was the damned steroids. Thankfully, I’m off them now. Good luck.
