I have been on levothyroxine since August and take 100mg.

I have body aches, no energy, have lost a stone so far, very cold, lie on sofa most days. Am really struggling to function as a mum, wife, at work etc.

I can’t work out if I need more blood tests(that I havnt had already).

My GP says as I am now within the normal range, she doesnt know what to advise 🙄

just wanted to know if this is normal to feel this rubbish after weeks of meds, surely life can’t be like this for evermore 😢

thanks in advance for any advice x

You had lots of advice in your previous post

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

What are your actual results and ranges ?

Was last test done as recommended, early morning, only drinking water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

I have my blood test result but so many things on there, I’m unsure what I am reading.

on 22nd aug my TSH level was 9.46 (range 0.30-4.20)

Serum free T4 level was 9.9 (range 9.00-19.00)

(nothing mentions T3 at all)

On 3rd oct my TSH level was 1.01 (range 0.30-4.20)

No mention of T3 or T4 in October.

Is that what information people look at?

You could cover up any identifying information on your blood test results and post the results in a new reply or a new thread making sure you can't be identified.

Some of the information in a Full Blood Count might be helpful in some contexts.

So just testing TSH is completely inadequate

Request GP test TSH and Ft4 and Ft3

Plus also can they test vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin

Or alternatively test privately like thousands and thousands of other U.K. members

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

we need to see

Vitamin D

Folate

B12

Ferritin

Your GP should have tested thyroid antibodies at original diagnosis of hypothyroidism

Do you always take same brand levothyroxine

Always take levothyroxine on empty stomach and then nothing apart from water for at least an hour after

No other medication or supplements within 2 hours

No iron, magnesium, HRT, or vitamin D within 4 hours

Are you taking vit d regularly. It helps aches and pains and mood .It doesn't sound as if your levels are right. Have you had a b12check . could be that!
