Hashimoto’s breathlessness.

FlorenceNightingtwit profile image

Hi. I’m on a path of searching for the cause of frequent bouts of breathlessness, often accompanied with muscle pain in my buttocks and upper thigh when walking stairs or inclines, bending over, or squatting.

If you have experienced the same, or know of explanatiins of these symptoms and/or remedies, please share. A number of GPs have merely dismissed the subject(s). I’m frustrated, and want to get back to functioning as I did before they appearred, to assist weight loss and aid mobility.

welcome to the forum

Low iron/ferritin often linked to breathlessness

Please add most recent thyroid and vitamin results

What vitamin supplements are you taking

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

We recommend testing vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 before starting supplements and retest at least annually

May I ask your age? How long has the breathlessness been going on for? I had similar symptoms and thought it was thyroid related.

covid vaccine left me with breathlessness

All I can say is that I had all these symptoms when my T4 meds were lowered. At the time I trusted doctors to do the right thing and don't know whether the lower Levo was the only cause.
