hi

I asked my endo to test reverse t3 which is pointless it seems .

here is the info replied

Also since being on t3 - pleaee has anyone experienced kidney issues ?

my face is super swollen and changed and legs blowing up again

Hi Sarah,

I cannot do reverse T3 as this is not a test that is available on our pathology system. Even if you find a lab to do reverse T3, there is no way of reducing your reverse T3. Therefore it is a pointless exercise.

You may find research papers on reverse T3 on mouse models and occasionally in human studies, but this is not practised in clinical medicine.

Best wishes

Dr

Endocrinologist is correct

We generally say testing RT3 is waste of time and money

You could test privately

It’s very expensive test (is flown to USA for processing)

Did you ask for reference to Lipodema specialist?

Your weight is incredibly slight.

Have you previously had anorexia?

Looking at your last post you weigh 50kg? I used to weigh 50kg last year until I doubled my calories and now I'm up to 57kg. At 50kg I was only taking 88mcg and eventually began alternating it with 100mcg just depending on the maker of the Levo. I think 125mcg could be way too high for your weight and then adding 30mcg T3 on top. It's no wonder your body is swelling and putting on weight. Happens to me when I'm on too much thyroid med. Even at my current weight, and I'm someone who needs really high FT4 levels, I would struggle to take 125mcg. Taking too much Levo will raise liver enzymes. If it were me I'd reduce that Levo down by 25-37.5mcg and maybe bring the T3 down to 25mcg. I'm still struggling with my own t4/t3 combo but I know that taking too much T4 or T4/T3 together makes me swell and get terrible water bloat.

Thank you.

This is what I don’t understand.

My last test 19 t4 (12 to 22) and t3 was 5 (4.1 to 6.8)

So it’s not showing over medication but BEFORE starting t3 my t4 was 20 on only 100mcg thyroxine and t3 was 2.1 😲😲😳😳

Thank you x

I've been overdosed on Levothyroxine and my FT4 and FT3 were optimal in range. My TSH was 3.8 yet I was sweating, fatigued, and irritable. Physician ordered a Total T4 test which showed I was overrange. If your T4 was 20 on 100mcg before the T3 then I wouldn't have increased it. I was taking 112mcg and 25mcg T3 and my body began to swell. I felt terrible!
