As I type, tomorrow is the start of the 45th Annual Meeting of the European Thyroid Association, Milan, 9 · 12 September 2023. Although all very professional and scientific - there might be something of interest - somewhere!

In particular, we might see some thyroid "news" stories. Do add replies if you notice anything!

This summarises the papers being presented:

Fascinating. Not much on treatment of hypothyroidism other than the sterling Dr Peter Taylor. Something interesting by Razvi but forgotten already. So much stuff on thyroid issues and not a lot for actual day to day treatment of ‘just’ hypothyroidism, which we would all agree needs to be markedly improved. No disrespect etc to anyone with some sort of thyroid cancer, who will most likely end up needing treated for hypothyroidism too. However the big bucks seem to land there, before hypothyroidism kicks in. Has it in fact got something more to do with us being easily intimidated and basically so cheap, that we don’t get a look in at these obviously very prestigious events? Crying wolf by endos over costs around T3 seem remarkably small fry all of a sudden.

Nothing intimidates me, certainly not charlatans, of which endocrinology harbours many.

Stand up to them!

No disrespect intended LindaC. Forever grateful to you for your lack of intimidation. I can do it sometimes but so far have bungled the job!

They are such a foul force - protecting each other as if their lives depend on it. I refuse to be intimidated by them BUT a price is paid for that: Medical Mafioso won't let anything go. Show caution, for the world is full of trickery: there have been good doctors... we're into the era of the snides. Take care and be well. 😎 xox

I beg your pardon, I never promised you, umm, anything at all really! :-)

But if there is any mention of thyroid in the media in the next few days - this might well be where it came from.
