you could get thyroid levels retested now

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested

Also both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once

Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum

Finished profile. Tsh is 3 range (.5-4.5) in US. I am in perimenapause and finding it very hard to control symptoms with biest cream, oral estradiol and prometrium

After. I can’t handle a tsh much lower than that

I can’t tell the difference between perimenapause symptoms and thyroid

TSH is not a thyroid hormone it’s the messenger from pituitary asking thyroid to work

Most people when adequately treated will have TSH around or under 1

Most important results are ALWAYS Ft3 followed by Ft4

And optimal vitamin levels

I don’t have thyroid

Mccrae,

can it take up to 12 weeks for synthroid to stabilize in blood sometimes?’

It is generally thought six weeks for bloods to stabilise enough for labs to be taken (although now docs appearing to be adhering to a 12 week rule but that’s more likely down to their time and costs. Ridiculous!

However, whether you use the 6 or 12 week rule, remember you can have euthyroid labs but still experience hypo symptoms which can lag behind by many months.
