I wonder if any of you could give me some clarity on what’s happening with my thyroid.
I have an enlarged thyroid that was scanned and biopsied, diagnosed with a diffuse goitre.
Blood tests show sky high thyroid antibody (somewhere in the thousands). But my thyroid hormones are normal and my doctor said no treatment is needed but I will be retesting every so often. sometimes my hormones fall and it was quite low a few years back and I was put on levothyroxine but then taken back off it again as my hormones seemed to go back to normal.
I have been reading on here that this can indicate hashimotos. However this has never been mentioned to me by any doctor. Is there a specific indicator of hashimotos or is it assumed by the inflammation?
Thanks all

High TPO/Tg antibodies indicate Hashi's - or, as your doctor probably calls it, autoimmune thyroiditis.
The antibodies have no direct connection to thyroid hormone levels. If your disease is in the early stages, the thyroid will still be making 'normal' amounts of hormone.
Howevr, we cannot trust doctors' interpretation of blood test results. So, do you have a copy of them? If so, post them here, with the ranges, and let's have a look.
