Latest thryoid results

Hi everyoneI have posted on here previously, history of subclinical hypothyroidism and GP reluctant to put me on medication for it.

What are your suggestions about how to approach? I'm having some Hairloss but unsure if this is due to stress. My life is extremely stressful and I also have mental health problems which cause me intense distress.

Tsh- 6.7(0.2-4)

This is a bit alarming, as it has gone up since last test (was 5.4 in April)

T4-13.6 (11-22.6)

Antibodies- 28 ku/ml (0-60)

Do you think I should demand medication for this, I'm worried it will make everything worse and feel like my GP is clueless.

Thank you x x

With two results with TSH over 5 and symptoms you should be offered a trial on levothyroxine

Starting levothyroxine - flow chart

ALWAYS test thyroid levels early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test …..this gives highest TSH

Have you tested privately for Thyroglobulin antibodies yet

shows deficient ferritin, vitamin D and B12 too low

Have you had these retested yet

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Thanks for your reply SlowDragon.

I am taking the vitabiotics ultra iron with b12, folic acid and vit c. I am trying to get out in the sunshine and taking vit d. I must admit I am not the most consistent with taking the vitamins.

Would you recommend starting on 25mg of levo?

I'm really tired of it all, doc also recommend sertraline or duloxetine for my anxiety. (always been anxious even before hypothyroid)

So you are taking iron with vitamin C

Vitamin D, B12 and folate at least 2 hours away from iron supplement

You need to retest vitamin levels and test TG antibodies

NHS won’t as TPO antibodies were negative

all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins
