HR sleep graph... interesting

So my new monitoring ring has shown me loads of new information about the ups and downs of my body ๐Ÿ˜ฌ and has opinions on most things!

Last nights sleep graph HR (much the same all week) which ideally ought to be hammock shaped for maximum r & r.... so I'm going to move my 10pm 5mcg T3 to earlier in the day and see how it effects sleep.... feeling like a lab rat ๐Ÿ€

That will be an interesting experiment.

I also get heart rate changes in my sleep. A while a go I did have a full sleep polysomnography, hooked up to many wires + CPAP and the whole thing monitored. My autonomic nervous system changes many times an hour. Includes blood pressure too. Thats when I got diagnosed with Periodic Limb Movement Disorder.

Fascinating isn't it being monitored... takes the guess work out of it all ๐Ÿ˜…

You'd think the NHS would like to fit us all with them ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

If I showed you the selfie I took you would be scared. Very scared. ๐Ÿ˜‚

It really wasn't easy actually sleeping hooked up to so many wires!

Must have been a nightmare when you need a wee ๐Ÿ˜ณ

I just found the selfie. Decided to post it because even if I hadn't blocked my eyes out you wouldn't recognise me in a line up!

If I remember rightly the multiple leads all went into one lead as is shown on the photo so you just had one or two things to unplug to go to the loo.

In case you're interested PLMD is often linked to neurodiversity. neurodivergentinsights.com/...

Also it can be helped by keeping ferritin over 80. 100 best.

OMG! Takes me back to Dr Who and hiding behind the sofa ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿคฃ

I don't really have a big issue with sleeping but I might tonight ๐Ÿ˜จ

Indeed. The CPAP mask was just the icing on the cake really. A very scary look indeed and strangely enough I didn't sleep well. ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜…

Don't all those things on your head make you sweat like crazy? It looks like there is a hell of a lot of plastic involved.

Jaydee1507 profile image
Jaydee1507Administrator in reply to humanbean

They were just fine wires that were glued to my scalp, then the plastic netting to help hold them in place did let my scalp breath. I'm used to the CPAP anyway but have to say this set up was a whole new level of weird!

Very grateful to the NHS and my very good sleep clinic for getting to the bottom of my sleep issues of which I have 3 diagnosed now. Complete validation for me after years of struggling with sleep and GPs putting it all down to psychological. This test would have been around ยฃ1000 to get done privately.

what do you do for periodic limb movement disorder

Jaydee1507 profile image
Jaydee1507Administrator in reply to Hopeful129

I did try the treatment - it's Parkinsons medication and I couldn't tolerate it. I now have extra melatonin.

I will also be able to get an iron infusion onthe NHS as my sleep doctor wants my ferritin at 75+ and I'm not good with taking iron.

Is PLMD a step up from Restless Leg syndrome because Iโ€™m sure my husband suffers from it. Whatโ€™s the cure, not that heโ€™s likely to take it - it doesnโ€™t disturb his sleep but it certainly disturbs mine.

Jaydee1507 profile image
Jaydee1507Administrator in reply to Gingernut44

Yes I suppose it is a step up from RLS although I wouldn't swap it as RLS keeps people awake becuase of it and I don't suffer form that thank goodness.

Similar to RLS though it does respond somewhat to good iron/ferritin levels so worth him getting those checked. Sugar affects my sleep terribly too.

There may not be a cure as such although I think the Parkinsons type meds really do help those they work for. That said they can suddenly stop working and you have to wean off them. Its not an easy condition to help.

Gingernut44 profile image
Gingernut44 in reply to Jaydee1507

Thanks for the info, Iโ€™ll get him to check his iron levels if possible ๐Ÿ˜ Heโ€™s quite happy to stab and โ€œmilkโ€my finger when I do a blood test but when I offered to do the same for him if he ordered a test, he said no โ€œIโ€™m okโ€ ๐Ÿ˜‚ so I think thereโ€™s a fat chance of that happening. The twitching legs start the minute he relaxes, ie lying on the sofa watching telly, lying on a sunbed in the garden and worst of all, in bed. I have videoed him doing it because he doesnโ€™t know heโ€™s doing it, it drives me crazy.

Jaydee1507 profile image
Jaydee1507Administrator in reply to Gingernut44

Blokes eh. lol

The trouble with RLS/PLMD is that often they do affect the sleep partner more than the actual sufferer. See if you can coax him into speaking to his GP. Good luck!

I've got an extreme downward slope since adding T3 to my Levo. You could throw someone off a cliff with my slope. Even if I take it at 8pm it's still downward. When I was on T3 only my heart rate pattern was chaotic.

TiggerMe profile image
TiggerMe in reply to jrbarnes

โ›ท๏ธcrazy isn't it, do you take a morning dose too?... last month I swapped to splitting my dose 6am, 2pm and 10pm thinking it would be kinder on my body... from my previous 2/3's 6am 1/3 2pm.... so I'm going to revert to the 2 doses and see what effect it will have.

When I first started taking T3 I found 1 dose first thing suited me best lasting longer and no lag so I'll trial that again after.... now I have some way of gauging my bodies response ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ”ฌ๐Ÿ”ฌ

jrbarnes profile image
jrbarnes in reply to TiggerMe

I've been splitting my Levo at 8pm and upon first waking then once I get out of bed I'll take the first T3 dose, a second in the afternoon and then last around 8pm. I noticed this slope began after I added more than 5mcg or so of T3. If I only take the 112mcg Levo then my heart rate is in the 60s and lower 70s with no downward slope but when I start adding the T3 my resting heart rate creeps up to 78 with downward slope. I've tried to lower the Levo a little but this doesn't help in fact my heart rate is only normal if I take 112mcg Levo. Not really sure what to do!

TiggerMe profile image
TiggerMe in reply to jrbarnes

Perhaps like me drop the late dose T3 and add it to the am dose which should tie up with good cortisol levels?

I wouldn't have thought the T4 would do much as it's a storage hormone ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

HiI've just started taking all my t3 in one go. For the first time in years my palpitations have resolved, my heart rate has also dropped both during thr day and the night. I generally feel better as well!

Just for interest, this is mine from last night (midnight to just after 06:00). I think the gap might be when I had my arm at an awkward angle or something like that.
