But I am the only person in my family who has an autoimmune disease and while pondering on this today I remembered my dad had Charcot Marie Tooth disease (CMT).
CMT itself isn't an autoimmune disease but I found this article. I checked the references but nothing that points to where they found that information.
I'd be grateful for some tips from any of you research-minded members.
Have you been tested for the CMT gene as it’s auto Somal dominant and x linked. My husband was thought to have it and to have passed it to my daughter. Then they found he had another gene that they were still researching. National Hospital in London is the place to go as that’s were they have the register. My husband has developed psoriasis and arthritic psoriasis which is autoimmune plus he also developed a lot of allergies at the same time so I would not rule out a link to autoimmune.
Should add there is a CMT forum here on HealthUnlocked.
I was tested, but 17 years ago at 20 years old, and all they did was check to see if I had any symptoms. Said 'there were too many versions of CMT and they couldn't check every gene' and that was that!
It still niggles me and I have a vague worry that my children will have it.
I'll nip over to the CMT board and have a poke about.
Edit: CMT board is very quiet. Last post was 7 months ago!
